The St. Clair County Bar Association was formed in 1963 after a review of the Illinois Court System. Prior to 1963 there were two Bar Association’s, the East St. Louis Bar and Belleville Bar Association. The county seat was in Belleville Illinois.
In 1963 after a review of the legal court system the state revised the courts into a two separate entities, The Circuit Court and the Associate Circuit Court. There were also two types of Judges, Circuit Judges and Associate Circuit Judges
Because of these changes the Member’s of those Association’s joined forces and became the St. Clair County Bar Association.
